Inclement Weather Special Arrangements

Museum Opening

  1. Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No.8 or above / "Extreme Conditions"*
    The Museum will be closed and remain closed if the signal / "Extreme Conditions" is lowered / cancelled less than 3 hours before the normal closing time.
  2. Black Rainstorm Warning Signal
    If the signal is issued during the normal opening hours, the Museum will remain open. If the signal is issued before the opening hours, the Museum will be closed until the signal is cancelled. If the signal is cancelled less than 2 hours before the normal closing time, the Museum will remain closed.

Arrangements of Museum Programmes and Booked Services

  1. Family, children, kindergarten, primary school, special school, child centre, elderly centre, other similar organisation:

    1. Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No.3 / Red and Black Rainstorm Warning Signal
      Programmes not yet held will be cancelled. Programmes already in progress will continue.
    2. Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No.8 or above / "Extreme Conditions"
      All programmes scheduled for that day, including those due to take place after the signal has been lowered, will be cancelled.
  2. Adult, secondary school, post-secondary school, other similar organisation:

    1. Black Rainstorm Warning Signal
      If the warning is issued by the Hong Kong Observatory three hours before the programme begins, programmes not yet held will be cancelled. Programmes already in progress will continue.
    2. Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No.8 or above / "Extreme Conditions"
      All programmes scheduled for that day, including those due to take place after the signal has been lowered, will be cancelled.
  3. Cancelled programmes will be postponed or fees refunded.
  4. Unless the Museum is closed due to inclement weather, the scheduled group visits of Free Admission will not be cancelled.

*In the case of serious disruption of public transport services, extensive flooding, major landslides or large-scale power outage caused by a super typhoon, the Government will make an announcement of "extreme conditions".
