      DescriptionThe Jingguanlou Collection, donated by Hong Kong collector Dr Leo Wong Kwai-kuen, is notable for its 20th-century painting and calligraphic works of the Shanghai School, including the most comprehensive oeuvres of Zhu Qizhan, Xie Zhiliu, and Chen Peiqiu. Following the collection catalogue The Jingguanlou Collection of Chinese Painting and Calligraphy: Zhu Qizhan, the HKMoA has compiled works by Xie and Chen from the Collection and published a catalogue featuring over 170 masterpieces from different phases of the artist couple’s respective art careers. Enriched with articles by Mr Xie Dingwei, the duo’s son, and Dr Tang Zheming, the Chinese art historian, the publication explores the artistic development and achievements of Xie and Chen, providing essential materials and references for the studies of modern painting and calligraphy of the Shanghai School.
